Oral Histories

As part of our mission to tell the stories of shoe designers, retailers, workers, and wearers, past, present, and future, Historic New England sat down with nine individuals with ties to New England to create all new video oral histories. Below are excerpts of those videos that provide insight into these individuals lives and their connections with the footwear industry in the region and across the globe.

An older White man with glasses and wearing a blue, long sleeve zip up, black pants, and grey sneakers sits with an older White woman with shoulder length strawberry blonde hair and bangs wearing a black turtleneck shirt, black beaded necklace, black pants, and red sneakers. They are being interviewed and filmed in a former factory building room with white walls and large windows.
